The gamma counter Multi Crystal LB 2111 is a compact, robust and easy-to-use instrument that has been optimized for IRMA and RIA immunoassays based on gamma-emitting isotopes like 125I, 57Co, 59Fe, 51Cr and 99Tc. Thick lead shielding efficiently prevents crosstalk between samples.

The gamma counter can be operated in a stand-alone mode or it can be hooked to a personal computer. The Multi Crystal LB 2111 is available as a 12 detector unit. To increase throughput a second detector block may be added resulting in a 24 detector instrument.

     Application

RIA and IRMA immunoassays mainly with 125I:

  • Thyroid hormones (T3, T4, TSH…).
  • Reproductive hormones (LH, estriol, FSH, progesterone, testosterone).
  • Drug abuse screening (THC, cocaine, amphetamine).
  • Allergy (histamines, IgE).
  • Vitamins (e.g. vitamin D).
  • Neurotransmitter (serotonin, dopamine…).
  • …and many others.

Other applications with gamma-emitting isotopes:

  • Infectious diseases (e.g. hepatitis).
  • Cytotoxicity based on 51Cr release.
  • Kidney clearance with 99Tc.
  • Receptor binding.
  • Iron metabolism with 59Fe.

High Throughput with 12 or 24 detectors

  • Sample throughput is high as 12 tubes.
  • Extended model for 24 tubes.
  • 200 samples can be measured within 17 min (1 min counting time/sample).

Detectors

  • Made of high-quality NaI well-type crystal providing.
  • Best measurement geometry for gamma emitters.
  • Energy range up to 500 KeV – suitable for the common gamma-emitting isotopes, e.g. 125I, 57Co, 59Fe, 51Cr and 99Tc.

Lead Shielding for low crosstalk

  • Thick lead shielding (6 mm) around each of the detectors (12 mm total between detectors).
  • Efficiently prevents crosstalk between samples.

Sample Racks

  • Sample racks facilitate loading of 12 samples at a time in a convenient way.
  • With multiple racks all samples can be prepared in advance.
  • In case a tube is contaminated, contamination stays in the rack and is never carried on to the instrument.
